In order to accommodate Bariatric patients, chairs need to offer more than just a wider seat:

Comfort: Our Comfort Tension Seating™ is double weaved to provide additional comfort and support for larger individuals.

Durability: Broda chairs are known for their strength and durability. Made of 16 gauge tubular steel, our chairs are aggressively tested to ensure the weight capacity, stability, strength and life cycle durability provide optimum safety and functionality in even the most extreme cases. Our Broda Vanguard Tilt Recliner and Bari 385 Transport Commode Shower Chair have a 500 lbs. and 800 lb. weight capacity respectively.

Proper Fit: Our Broda Vanguard Tilt Recliner and Bari 385 Transport Commode Shower Chair offer a lower back concavity in order to accommodate patients’ gluteal shelf. This allows patients to sit properly in the chair with the right seat depth as well as proper contact against the back and neckrest. The seat depth is also adjustable if needed. Depending on the model, we offer 22" – 30" seat widths to achieve proper fit for various patients. (up to 33" adjustable on the Bari 385) The Broda Vanguard and Bari 385 also feature an adjustable legrest length.

Caregiver Ease- (Maneuverability and Safe Patient Handling): Bariatric seating may present maneuverability and safe patient handling challenges for caregivers. Large all wheel braking casters with swivel and directional modes make the chairs easy to turn in tight spaces as well as easily push without lateral drifting.
The tilt and recline functions are operated by gas cylinders which help to counterbalance the lifting force required by caregivers. Our bariatric seating also works with most patient lifts, making them an ideal fit for your Safe Patient Handling and No-Lift program.
