Restraint-free positioning is often an on-going challenge, particularly due to the uniqueness of each individual case and their particular needs. It can be quite challenging to meet restraint-free goals, while maintaining resident safety, comfort and proper positioning.

Tilt in Space and Back Recline:  Broda chairs offer both seat tilt and back recline. Tilt and recline help keep the resident properly positioned in the chair, without needing to use physical restraints.

Because our chairs are infinitely adjustable, it allows for use of only the necessary amount of tilt or recline needed. As well, it allows for ease of caregiver re-positioning, with infinite positioning options to ensure the resident is re-positioned as frequently as needed. Our front pivot seat tilt lowers the center of gravity into the base of the chair for increased stability.

Comfort Tension Seating^(TM):  Broda chairs are known for their exceptional comfort. One thing that many caregivers notice is that residents who are often agitated or uncomfortable, become very comfortable once seated in the Broda chair. The comfort of the seating surface, combined with the tilt and recline create a "cradle" effect that can often help deter residents from attempting to exit their chair.

Care for Agitated Individuals:  In some cases where physical restraints are deemed necessary, Broda offers a safe and comfortable solution. As part of our Huntington's Padding Package, or available on its own, Broda offers a Thigh Belt. The Thigh Belt is a one piece positioning device used for pelvic positioning.  It leaves the hips and upper torso completely unrestrained. There is no danger of the patient sliding under the belt as with standard lap belts.
